As information about public health measures associated with COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) emerges, we will post it here. Please check frequently for latest messages, updates, and useful links.

Central Okanagan Public Schools' top priority is always the safety of our staff and students. We continue to work closely with local and provincial health authorities to get the latest information and ensure we cooperate with any recommended measures for COVID-19.

We continue to educate on best practices for preventing the spread of viral illness, including frequent and thorough handwashing and encouraging people to stay home from school or work when they show symptoms.

School campuses will remain closed to visitors unless otherwise invited.

If you are an essential service worker (ESW) with a child aged 0-5, please see this news release from the Province of BC for information on how to connect with childcare.

The Government of BC declared a state of emergency and a public health emergency in order to exercise emergency powers such as cancelling gatherings of 50 or more people and enforce social distancing requirements for establishments.

British Columbians can now call 1-888-COVID19 or text 604-630-0300 for non-medical information on the virus, including topics such as travel recommendations and social distancing. The line will be manned by service representatives from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week, and information will be provided in more than 110 languages.

Update April 30
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry prepared a special video address to thank teachers, educational assistants and school staff for all their work during these unprecedented times. As we continue to flatten the COVID-19 curve in B.C., it is crucial that we maintain the supports established for the children of essential service workers and make sure we continue to expand the provision of in-person support for vulnerable students, and students with disabilities and diverse abilities.

Please view Dr. Henry's video.

Also, Dr. Bonnie Henry along with Minister of Education Rob Fleming, will answer questions from children about COVID-19 during a virtual town hall that will be live streamed on News 1130’s Facebook page from 1 to 2 pm on Saturday, May 2, 2020. Details about the event and instructions for children to submit questions can be found on City News and News 1130's website.
